TEA PLANTATION AND WINERY TOUR
Beware: This Wine & Tea Lover's Dream is a great way to see the Lowcountry sights outside of Charleston. This all-inclusive tour starts off with a group photo among the Majestic Angel Oak, a visit to America's only tea plantation for a factory tour and unlimited freshly brewed hot/cold tea, and a stop at a Local Vineyard for a tasting and tour. Don't forget about the stop at a local brewery for a pint or a flight!
CHARLESTON FOOD AND WINE TOUR
Join us on a 7-hour Charleston Food and Wine tour. Hop on our one-of-a-kind Charleston limo party buses for some good wine, amazing food, and an unforgettably epic excursion. We’ll visit the Lowcountry’s majestic Angel Oak Tree, followed by a wine tasting and a hand-crafted seasonal charcuterie board.
CHARLESTON SIP AND SHOP TOUR
Get out of the hustle of downtown and come along with us for a beautiful day in the countryside. This tour includes wine, charcuterie, and best of all, shopping. Explore and enjoy Johns Island as we stop by the historical and majestic Angel Oak Tree for the perfect photo opportunity.
A Winery Tour with Crafted Travel first travels to the romantic Angel Oak Tree for pictures, followed up by visits to Deep Water Vineyard and Low Tide Brewing for fresh Wine Tastings and a Pint of John’s Island Beer, and finished off at the Firefly Distillery for spirit tastings headlined by their iconic Sweet Tea Vodka. It all sounds like a basketful, right? Wait until you get a taste of freshly brewed hot or ice tea at America’s only Tea Plantation, the Charleston Tea Plantation on our all new Charleston Tea Plantation & Winery Tour. Here you are treated to a Factory Tour offering a firsthand glance of the tea making process with fields of tea bushes stretching dozens of acres just outside. Your choice of tour is weighted in gold as each offers a unique vantage point in Charleston.
Deep Water Vineyard is a lot like Camelot; only roses are replaced by grapevines as far as the eye can see and are reflected by sun rays from up above. A winery and vineyard are adjoined to the property and it is where you will sample the delightful Muscadine grape varietal on the way to five tastings in total. Labels are bottled on the property, and wines on the menu include Low Tide, High Tide, Magnolia, Lowcountry Red and Deepwater Blend. You are encouraged to explore the vast outstretch of property accentuated by picnic tables and live oaks. There is even a cute Baby Brahma-Dwarf Cow living among the vines that you can pet. Stop by the Gift Shop on the way out and treat yourself to a bottle of your favorite flavor from the day.
This visit is followed up by two famously Charleston venues, Low Tide Brewing on John’s Island and the Firefly Distillery at its new location near Park Circle in North Charleston with plenty of libations all the way around. Crafted Travel has decided to purchase your first beer at the Brewery for an unfiltered glimpse of the local beer scene and what it means. The Low Tide dream team sources inspiration from the mounting waves of the Charleston coastline, and has also partnered with local chefs and sous-chefs to produce beers perfectly compatible with the typical Lowcountry plate. And at Firefly, you will be student and judge as you learn about the distillation process and take a few swigs of their signature Sweet Tea Vodka. House favorites include Firefly Moonshine and Firefly Vodka, both containing several flavor variations to provide just what you like.
An optional trip on the carousel is to the Charleston Tea Plantation, a different twist on the standard Sippin’ Tour we offer. This distinctive Winery Tour is a Wine & Tea Lover’s Dream as you punch your ticket to uncovering the mystery of tea making while sipping from an abundant stream of hot and cold tea and eating soufflé like an aristocrat. Nature’s abode is just outside fielding thousands of tea bushes and hosting live oak trees that will make you appreciate the toil of the harvest and the beauty of our natural world. The Plantation Gift Shop is right around the corner and allows you to choose from tins of tea with flavors mixed and cultivated on the property from mint tea to traditional sweet tea, and choice apparel to help you memorialize the experience. We highly recommend ‘feeling out’ the property and finding the best spot for a big group photo—your professional tour guide can serve as the photographer if needed!
Wine and Tea are two staples that have added a proverbial stamp into our history books and culture. Whether you are on an afternoon stroll in a quaint Downtown neighborhood or at a park on James Island, you are almost guaranteed to see a native Charlestonian with a glass of tea in hand. Answer a social call and head to a community clubhouse or marina and you are likely to see a man or woman with a glass of wine to toast the occasion. Wine is bottled at home or beyond, and aficionados and regular people have flocked to places like Deep Water Vineyard and Stems & Skins for a taste of ruby red heaven. Whatever it may be, both wine and tea are the purest reflection of our identity and togetherness.
